The Great Zuchini

The Great Zucchini is a surreal, interactive puppet act blending absurd comedy with immersive theatre. Emerging from the shadows, Zucchini—a mysterious, self-proclaimed guru—guides the audience through a bizarre ritual of enlightenment, merging elements of a séance, guided meditation, and theatrical illusion. A volunteer is drawn into the act, donning a puppet-like mask and becoming part of the spectacle. With an improvised, otherworldly charm, Zucchini manipulates reality, leading the crowd through moments of both hilarity and unease. Accompanied by an eerie sound bath and ritualistic gongs, the performance blurs the line between mysticism, satire, and sheer theatrical madness.
Mini Bruce
Created as part of a charity event supporting Macmillan Cancer Support, we performed as a Bruce Springsteen tribute act in honor of Kieran’s mother—his number one fan—who sadly lost her battle with a rare form of liver cancer. The performance was a heartfelt tribute, celebrating her love for Springsteen’s music while bringing people together to raise funds and awareness. With an electrifying setlist capturing the spirit of The Boss, we aimed to create an atmosphere of both remembrance and joy. The event was a powerful reminder of music’s ability to unite, uplift, and pay tribute to those we’ve lost.

Ichthyosaur
I created a roaming Ichthyosaur puppet for the Royal Albert Hall, inspired by the groundbreaking discoveries of paleontologist Mary Anning. Constructed from lightweight plastizote, the puppet brought prehistoric marine life to the present, gliding through the space in a dynamic celebration of Anning’s legacy. As part of a vibrant procession, the Ichthyosaur interacted with audiences, evoking wonder and curiosity about the ancient seas. The design combined artistic detail with practical mobility, ensuring an engaging and immersive experience. This piece paid tribute to both natural history and the pioneering spirit of Anning, bringing fossils to life in a truly memorable way.

Devizes Carnival
For Devizes Carnival, I designed and built giant puppets as part of a community-driven project with Devizes Outdoor Celebratory Arts (DOCA). Using withy and papier-mâché, we constructed large-scale figures, working with local participants to bring them to life. The build process was hands-on and at times chaotic, with challenges in balancing structure, movement, and weatherproofing. On the day of the procession, the puppets loomed over the crowds, animated by a team of volunteers navigating the tight streets. The result was an imposing yet playful presence—both an artistic statement and a testament to the unpredictable energy of carnival performance.
